John le Carré is a renowned British author of espionage novels. He was born in 1931 as David John Moore Cornwell in Poole, Dorset, England. He attended the prestigious Sherborne School and later studied Modern Languages at the University of Bern in Switzerland. After graduating, he joined the British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) and worked there for five years. He left MI6 in 1964 and began writing full-time. His first novel, Call for the Dead, was published in 1961. Since then, he has written over 25 novels, including The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and The Night Manager. His works have been adapted into films, television series, and plays. He has won numerous awards, including the Helmerich Award, the BAFTA Award, and the Goethe Medal. He is considered one of the greatest espionage novelists of all time.
